Draft This! The IFL draft works exactly like the NFL draft. Well, maybe "exactly" is too strong a word, maybe..."kinda". yeah, here we go, eh-humm...The IFL draft works kinda like the NFL draft. For each of the ODD numbered rounds. each team will draft this year in relation to how that said team finished last year. The worst team will draft first, and the best team will draft last. In the EVEN numbered rounds, draft pick order will be "re-drawn" giving each team a chance to draft in a different position during each EVEN number round. For those who may be confused by this, heres an example: round 1: team 1-team10 round 2: random re-draw round 3: team 1- team 10 round 4: random re-draw. round 5: team 1- team 10 etc. this is a radical change from the previous system of drafting. Earlier systems of drafting left alot to be desired as it required teams at each end of the draft order to wait 18 picks before it could select again. Not only does this prevent that from happening for the most part, but it will also add a new, fun dimension to the draft. The draft order for this season is: 1-Brigits Ballbusters 2-The Vatican Hitsquad 3-The Really Big Otters 4-Sucker Punch and a Beat Down 5-The Balta-Morons 6-Elias 16 7-Fucken Bollix 8-The St. James Gate 1759ers 9-The Whoop-Ass Express 10-The Beaner Patrol Something to be taken into account here is expansion teams. If we expand only two teams, they will "buy" the existing dummy teams from last year and draft in those teams finishing positions. If we decide to expand to possibly 14 teams, then this idea is history. we will instead have to just stick each of the f new owners at either the beginning of the round or at the end. Much like the regular season, you will be able to trade draft picks here if you so choose. An example: if team "10" trades away its second and third round picks for team "3"'s first round pick, he will end the draft a player short because he traded away one selection. he can fill that spot after the draft with a "free agent" pick to be deducted from his quota. Team 3 on the other hand, will reach 14 players a round early so they will not draft in the 14th round. The much talked about "franchise player" rule that has floated around the league for each of the past three season in one form or another, is now how they say in german, history. no more franchise player, i aint sorry to see you go. |
